Why has Charles Parks, Sr. not been named as City Administrator for the Town of Dover, Tennessee? Parks has been serving as interim Dover City Administrator for about a year now, more or less. He was appointed to the interim position when Gerald Campbell resigned from the job. For the past few meetings, and even longer, each time I see Charles Parks I ask him when the city is going to name him as city administrator. He just smiles and says he does not want the job. He may not want the job, but he has it; and he has had it longer than some of the permanent city administrators for the Town of Dover were behind the desk. What is up with having him serve as a permanent, interim city administrator. I even asked the Board of Mayor and Aldermen that very question during the last city council meeting during the public comment section time (however I doubt it will be reported in the local paper publication. We will see.) Anyway … Charles has the job. If he does not want it, then are we going to hire a city administrator OR are we going to elect a full-time mayor who holds the job and gets the paycheck? — I really have no problems with having an elected mayor who does the city administrator duties. I have long advocated for such a thing, but in the past, the city fathers and city mothers did not want that .. they wanted a city administrator rather than a city mayor with that responsibility and authority. What is really going on with this position? Let’s have some transparency, city officials. — What do you think? Should Parks be named City Administrator or not?
