Two Hawks perched atop one tree ~ LBL area

Two hawks in one tree are rare. It is unusual to shoot a photo of even one hawk in the very top of a tree. This shot features two hawks. These Two LBL Hawks were circling the historic cemetery.

Photos often just appear. This one did. I was driving to the Dover Boat Ramp and the Stewart County Farmer’s Market and I saw a bird of prey circling overhead. I was able to pull into the parking lot of Dover First Christian Church, Dover, Tennessee. This is one of the most beautiful and historic churches in the Land Between the Lakes region.

I scanned the sky to see if I could see the circling bird of prey. Then I saw it in the very top of a cedar tree at the edge of the historic cemetery.

I got the Nikon ‘Secret Weapon’ camera out. This is the only one of my cameras that can reach out this far and get a shot as far away as was this one.

When I focused in, that is when I could see with my own eye, through the viewfinder, that there were two birds of prey in the tree. Still at this time I could not tell if it was a hawk, own or possibly immature eagle.

Once I got focused, I could tell we had two hawks in the top of one tree.

There are different interpretations as to what this sign means, Seeing two hawks together is rare. Seeing double hawks in the top of a cedar tree is exceptionally rare. Being able to get a photograph of two hawks in one tree, at least for me, is very rare.

I felt a great sense of calm in being able to capture this image. I get a feeling of satisfaction to be able to share this shot with my readers and viewers. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I enjoy looking at it myself.
