It is alleged by Stewart County, Tennessee Mayor Robin Brandon that United States Congressman Mark Green recently told Dover Kiwanians that “Land Between the Lakes is under investigation.
Several attempts to reach Congressman Green for a comment for this LBLUS.com exclusive story were unsuccessful. We will diligently work tomorrow to get an on the record comment on the allegation from Green.
Two Dover Kiwanis Club members confirmed that Congressman Mark Green was the club’s guest speaker at a recent meeting in Dover, Tennessee.
Mayor Brandon was at the meeting and he said Green said the LBL was under ‘investigation’; but that Green went on to say that it was “…something he could not talk about,” Mayor Brandon said.
The Kiwanians said Green said there were “things going on” at LBL and that he indicated to the Kiwanians that the ‘things’ were serious; but Green said the issues with LBL were something “He could not talk about.”
Well, apparently Green can talk about it because he brought it up to the Dover Kiwanis Club.
I contacted Congressman Green’s Clarksville, Tennessee office today multiple times and they asked what I wanted to speak with the congressman about and I told Green’s Clarksville office staff member I wanted to talk about the current status of Land Between the Lakes and specifically I had questions of Congressman Green about the statements he had made recently to the Dover Kiwanis Club about LBL.
I also contacted Green’s other field offices. I had an old personal cell phone number for the congressman that he had given to me a few years ago and I went ahead and dialed that and left a lengthy voice mail message.
Then I went online and found Green’s U.S.Congressman site and I filled in all of my contact information — including that I was writing a story of LBLUS.com — and when I typed in my email address on Green’s online form it kept coming back and telling me my email address was invalid and I checked it several times and entered it several times and then Green’s website showed me a screen where it was saying to me, “We are not quite sure if you are a robot, please try again.” — — How do you respond to that?
I had talked with Mayor Brandon a few days ago and he had told me Green had allegedly told the Kiwanians that LBL was under investigation. Brandon also went to Kentucky recently when U.S. Senator Rand Paul was in the LBL area in Cadiz, Ky (Trigg County, KY) to discuss the federal holding that straddles Tennessee and Kentucky. Brandon said he brought it up to Rand Paul that Mark Green had said LBL was under some kind of investigation, but Brandon said Rand Paul basically shrugged off the statement about the alleged investigation.
Mayor Brandon did confirm to me via text late today that he recalls that Green had used the word ‘investigation’ even though the two Kiwanians could not remember Green using the word investigation. Again, Green did not respond to multiple requests for comment, but efforts to speak with the congressman will continue tomorrow.
Via text I asked Mayor Brandon, “Can you tell me if you know more about the investigation than you did when we talked (previously)? If so, can you say anything?” Brandon did not respond to this texted inquiry if he has or has not learned any more about the alleged investigation into LBL.
For the past few months there has been a very bizarre public feud between Congressman Green and Mayor Brandon that has spilled out publicly onto social media and has been reported by some area and regional media, The strange feud includes allegations of profane language and possible alleged threats.
