U.S. Rep. Mark Green confirms LBL Investigation underway ~ LBLUS.com ~ Land Between the Lakes area

United States Congressman Mark Green confirmed to LBLUS.com today there is an investigation underway into alleged discrepancies in budget numbers of Land Between the Lakes.

“My office was made aware of discrepancies in LBL budget numbers from Regional Forest Service Office to us,” Green said. “The best way to say it is there are discrepancies between the identified appropriation and the reported authorization.”

Green said the LBL report to Congress is being investigated to assure “full transparency.”

Green said due to the nature of the investigation, he cannot comment further in public.

“The last thing I want to do is compromise an investigation,” the congressman said.

“We will get to the bottom of it and most importantly we’ll make certain that Land Between the Lakes is properly funded,” Green said.

Stewart County Mayor Robin Brandon said recently Congressman Green had been guest speaker at the Dover Kiwanis Club and that Green had told Kiwanians an investigation into LBL was underway, but he couldn’t talk about it. Some Kiwanis club members confirmed Green was a recent guest speaker and said there were issues underway at LBL that he could not discuss, but the Kiwanians could not say that Green had used the word ‘investigation.’ Brandon was asked yesterday after the Kiwanians said they did not remember the use of the word if he still wanted to say that Green had said an investigation was underway and Brandon confirmed that he had heard Green use the word investigation.

Brandon said he had told U.S. Senator Rand Paul at a recent meeting about LBL in Cadiz, Kentucky that Green had indicated LBL was under some type of investigation, but that Paul had basically shrugged off the comment with no response.

LBLUS.com has asked Mayor Brandon if he has learned any more details of the scope and or nature of the investigation that he would be at liberty to disclose publicly, but he has not responded to that request or invitation.

In recent months there has been a weird public feud between Mayor Brandon and Congressman Green.
