The new inn at Paris Landing is looking good; but what about the rest of the park?
Those of us who opposed the demolition of the old inn argued that the entirety of Paris Landing State Park needed to be upgraded and maintained. The state’s own plan in 2014 was to allocate about 7.8 million for Paris Landing Inn to be rehabilitated along with upgrades and improvements to most of the rest of the park, including the marina, golf course and swimming pool. We ask that as the new inn is being built that the commitment to upgrading the rest of the park continue also. Those assurances in the past were less than clearly stated.
So, time is going to tell what is going to happen at the rest of Paris Landing; and it may not take much more time.
Yes, what about the rest of the park services? I was very disappointed to find out that the pool was going to remain closed this summer as I was hoping to spend a few days a week there with my granddaughter while school’s out since the city of Dover doesn’t feel that a pool or splash pad type area would be a nice addition for its residents. I’m sure the park is losing out on a lot of revenue since this will make the 2nd summer straight the pool has been closed & I’ve never been there on a day that it wasn’t packed in the past pre-Covid days.
Is anyone playing tennis in 2021? I was there in 2017 and saw no action, no interest in that old court. The nets and court were in disrepair.
