OK, it is way past time to find out what is really going on with the seemingly endless “renovation” project of our historic Fort Donelson National Battlefield Visitors Center in Dover, Tennessee
We have been more than patient.
I know every now and then a news story or press release comes out about the Fort Donelson Visitors Center and it says a lot of details about the renovation project’s history and projected scope, but nothing happens!
The last news story I read said something about animals allegedly being in the building and the roof leaking. I have specifically asked about the roof to see if precautions have been and were being taken to prevent leaking in the building and I was assured that was taken care of.
Is the roof leaking? Was it leaking? Is it fixed?
I have been asking questions for years now about this project and the sit down of a formal news story has eluded me. I have contacted the folks at Fort Donelson and they know what I want to talk about and they appear willing to talk, so I will update when possible to update. (that is an awkward sentence but I’m leaving it in..) — stay tuned!
Well, for four years the Federal budget for Parks was held hostage, and there was virtually no Interior Department, except to serve the oil and gas industry. That is being turned around, despite filibusters, so maybe if we get a decent Infrastructure bill passed to repair national tourist sites, Fort Donelson will be high on the list.
