The mighty hummingbird is being celebrated all over and especially in Land Between the Lakes and the LBLUS.com region. A tremendous benefit to us all as a natural wonder and important pollinator, we salute our small, humming friends all during their special month of August. The staff at Land Between the Lakes have lots of activities and events underway in August to celebrate and bring attention and focus to the hummingbirds among US!

August brings hummingbirds by the hundred to the Nature Station, and you’re invited to come witness this natural spectacle for yourself! Come by any day in August to watch these busy birds have a feeding frenzy in our backyard gardens. Also, enjoy artwork by local artists and photographers, check out informative hummingbird displays, and take part in our Hummingbird Photography Contest. And don’t forget to check out our special hummingbird programs throughout August:

Come one come all to Nature Station’s Hummingbird Photo Contest! We encourage photographers of all abilities and ages to participate. To be eligible, photos must be taken at Nature Station during August 2021. Our judges will decide winners in the categories of: Photos at Feeders, Photos Not at Feeders, and Kids (ages 17 and under) Photos, and the public will choose a “People’s Choice” winner on Facebook. Winners will receive a small prize and have their photo displayed at Nature Station at Hummingbird Fest 2022. Stay tuned for complete details including rules, how to submit photos, and more.
