Once again The Fighting Irish of Houston County squared off with visitors and arch-rivals The Stewart County Rebels during middle school action tonight on The Hill at Houston County High School.
. The Houston County Middle School Fighting Irish varsity tonight defeated The Rebels by a score of 26-8 on a night that was almost perfect for football. Fans on both sides enjoyed the wonderful September football weather and they enjoyed the gridiron action on display at the HCHS Fighting Irish field.
During the junior varsity game played earlier in the night, the HCMS Irish and the SCMS Rebels tied with a score of 8-8. There was good sportsmanship all around and the players played hard and earned the respect of their opponents, teammates and fans alike. It was a great night for football and as always when the Fighting Irish of Houston County line up against the Stewart County Rebels, you can count on action packed plays from both sides from start to finish!
(In our initial report, LBLUS.com reported the Irish won 8-0. but that was the wrong score. The jv score was a tie 8-8. We apologize for our blunder and are happy to set the record straight!)
Thanks for the good pictures of the game, and yes it was perfect weather.
When did the Irish start wearing Blue. Like the green jersey better , so much for a perfect season for the Rebels. Nice job Irish .
Paul .. this was a middle school game. The Houston County Middle School Irish colors are Green and Blue for Erin Elementary, green, and Tennessee Ridge Elementary, blue, as their school colors where the elementary schools come together at HCMS. The HCHS Fighting Irish are still green and white!
Where did the High School Irish play, David?
