Stewart Countian Paul Adams is on a mission to make life a little easier for senior citizens.
“Who deserves it more?” Paul Adams asks. “Our seniors have done so much for us during their lives. I think we need to make sure they know we appreciate them and do something to help them all out.”
Adams is working to get “Honorary Parking” signs for Senior Citizens placed in locations throughout Stewart County and Dover, Tennessee. And as he is accomplishing his mission in Dover/Stewart County, he wants to take the Honorary Parking for Senior Citizens sign project to other neighboring counties. He hopes the initiative catches on and it spreads throughout the State of Tennessee and perhaps nationwide.
Adams already has signs in several locations, including the very first one that was installed in front of the Town of Dover, City Hall in Dover, Tennessee. The sign at the Dover City Hall was unveiled during the most recent Dover City Council meeting. At the meeting prior, Adams had made his request for the sign to be placed in front of city hall. The Dover City Council unanimously approved the request.
Adams said he got the idea this winter when the terrible storm that spawned tornadoes throughout Tennessee and Kentucky had hit the area. He said he was at Stewart County High School and saw several ‘younger folks” parking in the parking spots close to the building to get inside out of the storm and then he saw an older couple having to walk across the parking lot to get inside.
“That’s when I got the idea for the Parking Signs for Senior Citizens!” he said.
Dover Mayor Lesa Fitzhugh said she thinks the signs are a great idea and is glad the Town of Dover has one now in front of city hall.
“It is a great idea,” she said.
Adams says folks can contact him if they want information about the signs or if they want to get one for their own business or office.
“I hope we can get them all over for our Seniors,” he said.
“I am accepting donations ,. I’m a non profit organization. We’re called “Unifying All In America” we’re located at F&M Bank,” Paul Adams said.
