All you need to do is put together some picnic items, drive to Land Between the Lakes, pick a spot and have your picnic. With it being that simple, even I can manage to pull off a Land Between the Lakes picnic every now and again.

At Boswell Landing you can pull up to any of the great picnic tables and let the picnic begin. Many of the areas at Boswell Landing. There are a couple of things about having a picnic right now in LBL or pretty much anywhere in the Land Between the Lakes area.

It is hot. It is very hot and it is very dry. So, if you plan on starting a campfire or picnic fire, make sure you are careful because everything outside is as dry as a chip. It might be best to have cold sandwiches rather than cooking anything outside right now. That is my humble outdoor cooking advice.

Also, the biting flies are out in throngs right now. I was stopped at Boswell taking a few shots of the lake and the picnic areas and the biting flies just about carried me off in chunks! I am not sure what makes the biting flies (I have also heard them called Deer Flies) be so think around the lakes, but they sure are out in force.

However, the hot and the dry and the biting flies and the possibilities of letting an uncontrollable fire get out in the wilds of LBL stop you from enjoying a nice relaxing picnic in any of the hundreds, and even thousands of possible picnic sites
