Bison closeup is hard to shoot! ~ LBL

A Bison closeup? I find it hard to shoot. These animals in my camera mind’s eye are very, very hard to shoot. Rarely and I satisfied with any of the shots I get of the bison at the bison range in the Model, Tennessee portion of Land Between the Lakes.

For some reason, I just do not get focused in well on any one particular aspect of the bison. I seem to want to shoot all of the animal and in so doing, I only get a very bland and boring shot or shots. This one is about the best I got out of this particular set of shots. While this one is not particularly interesting, it does seem to capture a moment a bit more than some of the other shots.

In my photographic experience, especially with very large animals, I find that focusing in one one area of the animals will give a more realistic picture or view of the entire creature.

I find these great animals hard to photograph. I almost never am happy with the pictures i get of the bison at the Model, Tennessee range in the Tennessee portion of the Land Between the Lakes. It is hard to get close enough to them to get any sort of angle the way they photograph best; but that is really just an excuse.

I get some good shots of them sometimes, but as I said, most of my bison photos are Ok, I guess. Now, every now and then I get what I think is a really good one. This one is a bit better than OK, I would say. The best photos I ever got of the LBL Tennessee bison was one winter right after a hard snow and I came up on the herd near the front pen area and they still had snow on their coats and were all lying down. I shot those with a Pentax black and white for the newspaper.
