Even out in the serene wilds of Land Between the Lakes one can enjoy Nature and Patriotism! While I was using my Canon macro lens to shoot this interesting snag at the Gatlin Point Boat Ramp on Lake Barkley in LBL, this boat cruised by flying the American Flag.
While I had just thought that it seemed I was the only one out and about in the Land Between the Lakes area on this Fourth of July, I was treated to the flowing sight of ‘Old Glory’ proudly waving.
This juxtaposition of images, Nature and Patriotism, is one that I wanted to see soon after I arrived home for the hot afternoon. I had shot several scenic and historic shots on my venture out, but this is the one that I was most interested to see how it had turned out.
One of the fun things about photography is that you never really know what sort of images you have been able to capture until you get them home and download them. I used to have the same feeling when I was working in the newspaper business for years. I developed my own film and photos. It was always interesting to see what sort of images were on the roll. In this day and time, it is interesting to see what images are on the photo card.
This image pays tribute to the day. Nature and Patriotism both celebrated during a photo outing at the Gatlin Point area of Land Between the Lakes.
Gatlin Point is located in the Stewart County, Tennessee portion of the federal government’s Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. About one third of LBL is in Tennessee and all of the Tennessee portion of Land Between the Lakes is in Stewart County.
