Cross feather ~ I found these crossed feathers in Land Between the Lakes. I discovered them at the picnic area across from the Bison Range at former Model, Tennessee community of Land Between the Lakes.
What does it mean when you find feathers crossing your path?
“It’s a symbol of acknowledgment, that someone or something in the spirit world is looking out for you, keeping you safe and empowering you to whatever path you set upon. If you see a feather, your angel is near and they are reminding you that, with them, you are safe.” (please see citation link below)
When I found them it was the spring of 2020 and the pandemic was something that was just beginning to take hold. I thought about these feathers and this photo often.
This photo and original post were among my first postings on LBLUS.com. I had a vivid dream and like to recount them and record them as best I can. I do it in an attempted poem form.
Cross feather
And in a dream, like cross feathers, she comes to you
again, but how long has itbeen since even
thinking
about her, much less
dreaming
she still lives, which she does not
and in the dream she not only still talks to you, it seems, in a playful way,
she even still likes you and she flirts casually with you as she always did and it simply melts you (or me) right down to the earth where the cross feathers lie
Somewhere there is food and in the food is something like broken glass, but none of that matters
The thing that makes you smile, dream smile is
that she is talking and living and laughing and simply says
“I’m dating again!” And you dream laugh and say to this girlfriend from your past who has returned to you in a dream, “Don’t tell me much on that,” you laugh and pat her, lovingly.
You know when you awaken, she will disappear and instead of being a young, vibrant, beautiful girl laughing and flirting again, she will be dead, where she has been for years.
But somewhere inside you, in you heart and in your dreaming mind, she lives and must come to visit again on occasions ….
No point to dreams, but … I guess…
the point is that, for now, she lives, she laughs, she smiles and she flirts with you again and both of you, the sleeping, dreaming you and the dream girlfriend from teenage years is there as fragile as cross feathers seem —
and the wind on the cross feathers, and in the dream
will blow
