LBL car herding the large animals at the Elk & Bison PraIrie is among the lesser known activities in Land Between The Lakes. I know of some LBL area natives who have never been in the LBL prairie because the don’t want to put their vehicles in possible damage from the roaming large animals.
I have not heard of anyone having problems with the animals bumping or charging cars. But, there are signs in strategic places telling folks DANGER! Stay in your car; which is a good idea since these big animals can be very territorial.
Roger Miller used to sing about rollerskating in a buffalo herd. Not sure about that, but you can ride along with the bison at the Elk & Bison Prairie at Land Between the Lakes.
Pictured are several cars, from several different states, driving along with the bison herd at the Elk & Bison Prairie.
The bison were pretty calm, although one bison took it out on the red traffic cone (pictured) and the drivers were careful also.
I decided to stay back and let the herd amble by — while I took some photos.
