Dover, TN Historical, Drive-Through interactive, Interpretive Park proposed to Dover City Council.

Dover City Council: PLEASE RECONSIDER SELLING OUR LAND! It has LOTS of potential future and current uses!

I am proposing the Dover City Council at least consider some options for the vacant lot beside Dover City Hall they plan to sell during tomorrow’s Dover City Council meeting. This lot is perfect for a historic, interpretive drive through park where the pre-history, history and future of Dover, TN and our area is interpreted. If you are talking money, this proposal has a LOT more potential for bringing in and keeping important tourist dollars than by selling the lot for the small amount you have it currently appraised for resale on the current market. I have been told — privately by several folks — because folks are fearful about speaking out publicly on this and other issues — that Dover wants to sell the lot because they do not have a use for it and/or they do not know what to do with it. The lot could be used as the local match for an historical, interpretive grant that could be used to erect interpretive signs and interactive mediums where visitors, tourists can drive through and read and listen to and interact with the different signs/kiosks. Dover wants to hire a Grant Writer and this could be an easy project to fund since the local match is already there in the form of this important and strategic piece of property. This is just ONE reason WE DO need this valuable piece of property that we already own. What is the rush to sell it? What is the justification for selling it? I have talked with NUMEROUS taxpayers since the last Dover City Council meeting and I have yet to find even ONE — other than council members — who want to see this lot sold. The potential for an interactive interpretive park funded mostly with grant funds our new Grant Writer can secure with ease is just ONE reason for keeping the lot. A second reason for keeping the lot is that in the future WE WILL likely need it. A third reason for keeping it is because it enhances the beauty of our modern city hall area. A fourth reason for keeping it is WE can control what is built or erected beside our city hall. Dover City Council — PLEASE reconsider selling this lot! IT HAS MANY POTENTIAL USES — SOME ARE EXPLAINED ABOVE… please read …
