‘Grain Elevator Graffiti’ ~ Danville, Tennessee ~ Houston County ~ Land Between the Lakes area ~ LBLUS

Look at what those crazy kids have done! They’ve put graffiti all over the grain elevator. — Now this is not a phenomena that has just started. Crazy kids have been graffitying up the old Danville Grain Elevator for decades .. probably almost a century. There are articles that tell more about the history of this structure and of Danville than I am going to get into today. The history of the structure since it was abandoned for use is ten times longer than the history of it in use. Along with being called ‘The Grain Elevator’ It was also known as the ‘Danville Warf’ and the ‘Danville Transfer Station.

One of the strange, sad things about this structure. The summer before my senior year of high school, one of my high school and elementary school classmates tried to swim from this structure back to the bank at Danville and he drowned. That’s what I wind up thinking about when I look at this structure. I am glad all of the graffiti kids made it safe to the bank and home.
