Check out the LBLUS.com Turtle Photo Gallery AND Get ready for ‘Totally Turtles Tuesday’ June 22, 2021 at Land Between the Lakes from 3:30 p,m. until 4 p.m. at Woodlands Nature Station at LBL on T 3146 Silver Trail Rd, Cadiz, KY 42211,
Turtles are so cool! Some can live over 100 years, some can grow over 200 pounds, and some are even nocturnal! Join us to meet several turtles native to Land Between the Lakes, see what makes each one unique, and even give them a pat on the shell!
These photos are of an LBL area turtle. In fact, it could be the Carlisle Crawler, but I rather think it is a different turtle, as I am not that great at turtle identification. I do know for a fact this was one aggressive turtle. I would say it is a snapping turtle! As I came close to it, it would leap at me, as much as a large turtle can leap, and boy was it snapping! It was almost like it was ‘popping wheelies’ to get at me!
So, if you want to learn more about turtles, go to the program Tuesday at Woodlands Nature Station in LBL or drive through Carlisle, Tennessee and you may very well see some big turtles on or near the road!
