Model, Tennessee – Here is the King of Land Between the Lakes. Who can argue that the majestic bison in the bison reange at Model, Tennessee? Not I. I will argue the case that the bison are (is) the king (or queen) of LBL. Have y’all ever heard the story that the very first male bison brought into the LBL range got his horn stuck up under a root while he was watering at the water hole by the northern portion of the front fence and then he drowned? This reportedly did indeed happen at the Model, TN portion of the LBL range and not at the Prairie portion at LBL. I heard that story many years ago and often and I do think the first one drowned and the early LBL TVA officials had to hunt around frantically to find a young replacement for the heard. And the rest is LBL history.
