LBL Fun

Lakes launch LBL fun in all directions!

Action in the Land Between the Lakes area is usually launched from the lakes. LBL Fun is found in and around the water. We are fortunate in our area to have two of the most beautiful and popular lakes (rivers) in the region and country.

Just look! LBL fun is taking place in all directions in this photo and even happening in areas of this scene that’s not in the camera view!

We are home to Lake Barkley on the Cumberland River and also Kentucky Lake on the Tennessee River. Our area is know for being the closest point where two major rivers run parallel to one another without merging.

In the photo, LBL Fun is everywhere you look! Good thing I had my wide angle lens (and camera) with me to get this lake action shot! Taken from the Dover Boat Ramp behind the Stewart County, Tennessee Courthouse, we have more action going on in and around this shot than can be described.

Of course, the dominant image is the majestic American Countess steamboat. The American Queen riverboat company regularly brings its beautiful vessels to our lakes area.

As you can also see from this shot, there is a fairly large speed boat at the dock and it appears tiny compared to the American Countess. Several folks from the large boat are on the dock talking with the young folks at the ramp. It appears they all know one another.

There were several fishermen getting ready to bring in their boats. Behind me at the parking area, several boats and fishermen were getting ready to take their boats out for a day on the lake. They were heading out to fish.

Of course, some could be just out to relax on their boats. Lots of kids were also on the shores getting ready to load onto boats for a nice afternoon boat ride and possibly some fishing.

The riders on the American Countess were unloading from the gangplank to get aboard one of the several tour buses at the parking area ready to take everyone on a scenic ride through historic Dover, Tennessee and just as historic Stewart County, Tennessee.

The river boat visitors and visits had created a very vivid sense of what it must have been like decades ago when Dover, Tennessee was one very busy little river town.

It is fun to just watch all of the action around the lakes. We are blessed to be in an area with such beautiful attractions. LBL fun is everywhere, especially around our miles of shoreline!
